Policies

AIM OF THE POLICY

  • To provide guidance to teachers and school administration on the collection, analysis and interpretation of information in order to report on the progress of learners.
  • To illustrate the ways that assessment at HSS should provide evidence of learner performance according to the curriculum learning outcomes.
  • To support assessment as a means for providing feedback to learners in order to support their learning.
  • To describe the different forms of assessment such as tests and examinations, projects, oral presentations, performances, investigations, practical work and creative writing that can be used to accommodate different learning styles

In Early Years Foundation Stages - Children take SATs (Standard Assessment Tests).

These are informal: teachers record a level for reading, writing and maths based on the evidence from their work.

Standard Jr.I to Jr.III - Child is assessed in a more formal way. They take tests in Maths, Urdu, English and Science. The children are tested on a range of skills and knowledge that have been learnt throughout their school and class experiences. We ensure that the children are well prepared for these assessments, which might mean some extra homework in the build-up. Pupil’s results are published in May. For the children, it is just one of the many ways in which we monitor their progress.

Standard Jr.IV to Sr.VIII – Child is assessed by formative & summative assessments. They also need to proceed for MOY (Mid of Year Exams) & EOY (End of Year Exams).
